The Return beta
Thank you for trying Return before it's finished. This is a small, private test — you're here because you were invited, and your honest reactions are the whole point.
Your privacy in the beta
Nothing about the privacy promise changes for testers. Your words stay on your phone; your conversation resets each day; there is no account and no tracking. The one thing worth naming plainly:
- What leaves your phone: only what you'd expect from using the AI — the pause context described in the privacy policy. If you were given an invite code, those requests pass through Return's server, which records only anonymous metadata (a hashed code and token counts) and never your messages.
- What the developer can see: request metadata and any diagnostic report you choose to send. Never your conversation.
- How to wipe everything: Settings → Privacy and data → reset.
Installing
The beta installs outside the Play Store during this phase. You'll receive a private link to the app and, if you don't have your own Anthropic API key, a personal invite code to paste into Return's key screen.
- Install Obtainium (a free open-source app updater) from its own releases page or F-Droid.
- Add Return using the GitHub releases link you were sent — Obtainium will keep it updated as new test builds ship.
- Open Return, and if you were given an invite code, paste it into Settings → the AI key screen.
A Google Play closed-test invitation may replace this path soon — if you'd rather wait for that, just say so.
Telling me what you found
Two ways, both welcome:
- In the app: the feedback screen can flag a specific line or send a diagnostic report (you see it in full first).
- By email: support@returntoyou.app — anything at all, in English or French.
Leaving
Uninstalling is the whole exit — there's no account to close. If you used an invite code and want it revoked, just ask.
